Tips for a Smooth Return or Exchange

A little care before you send shoes back can make the difference between a quick refund and a frustrating delay. These practical habits help your return arrive in the condition we need and get your replacement pair on its way sooner.

Try new shoes on the right way

Since items need to be unworn, test the fit indoors on a clean, carpeted surface. Try shoes on later in the day, when feet are naturally a little larger, and wear the socks you plan to use with them. Walk around for a few minutes, check for heel slip, and make sure there is roughly a thumb's width of space in front of your longest toe. Avoid wearing a new pair outside, even briefly, because scuffed soles or creased leather can make a pair ineligible.

Keep the box in good shape

The shoe box counts as part of the product, so treat it gently. Don't tape labels directly onto it or use it as the shipping container on its own. Place the original box inside a sturdy outer carton or mailer, and fill any empty space with paper so it doesn't get crushed in transit. Return any tissue paper, shoe trees, spare laces or dust bags that came with the pair.

Exchanging for a different size

If the fit was close but not quite right, check our size guide before choosing a replacement. Sizing can vary between brands and even between styles from the same brand, so measuring your foot length and comparing it to the chart is more reliable than simply going half a size up or down. Wide or narrow feet may also need a different width rather than a different length.

Keep records until it's resolved

Hold on to your tracking number, order confirmation and a quick photo of the packed shoes until your refund or exchange is complete. If anything goes missing in transit, that information makes it much easier to sort out.
