Getting the Most Out of Your Message

A little detail in your first email helps us give you a useful answer quickly, without a long back-and-forth. Whether you are asking about fit, a style you spotted, or an order you have already placed, here is what makes a message easy to act on.

Questions about fit and sizing

Sizing varies between brands and even between models from the same brand, so tell us what you currently wear and how it fits. Useful details include:

• The brand, model and size of a pair that fits you well
• Whether your feet are narrow, average or wide, and if one foot is larger than the other
• What the shoes are for, such as daily walking, running, standing at work or wet-weather commuting
• For kids' shoes, the child's age and a recent foot measurement in inches or centimeters

Before you write, it is worth measuring your feet using the steps in our Size Guide. Measure in the late afternoon, when feet are slightly larger, and wear the socks you usually wear with that kind of shoe.

Questions about orders and returns

If you are writing about an existing order, include the name used at checkout and any order reference you received. For exchanges or returns, mention whether the shoes have been worn outdoors and describe the issue, for example tight across the toes or slipping at the heel.
